THE PEOPLE OF GOD,
UNDER THE WORD OF GOD,
DOING THE WILL OF GOD,
ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD.
“The People of God” is our identity.
We are a gathering of people who have heard and believed in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and have been “called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ…” (1 Corinthians 1:2) We obtain our identity from and define it in the Lord Jesus, and when we come together we worship and serve Him in unity.
“The Word of God” is our authority.
The inspired, inerrant Word of God informs all that we do. It is our final authority. Godly and gifted men, though necessary for the church, are not infallible. Therefore, our chief focus as we gather is reading and explaining the Bible. We recognize it is the primary means by which we come to know and love God, grow in Him, learn to love others, and experience joy in life.
“Doing the Will of God” is our vocation.
We have been “created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10) Therefore our primary vocation as followers of Jesus Christ is to do the will of God. That includes obeying the great commission by sharing the Gospel, making disciples, serving one another, and shining as a light in our community.
“All for the Glory of God” is our ambition.
All of this is informed by one overriding ambition - that God be glorified in and through us. “…Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16) God is worthy of all honor and praise, and we desire that in all we do He will be lifted up for all to see.
